Why Singles Were Handed Free Water Bottles at Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi Concert

On Saturday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi was the site of a memorable event as Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh began the India leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour. There was a lot of foot flow around the stadium due to the thousands of spectators. The lines of excited fans waiting to enter were endless, stretching as far as the eye could see. Many of the audience members had waited for the performance for hours, so their joy at seeing their beloved musician perform live again in India was palpable.

One campaign stood out on social media amidst all the talk about the performance. Those attending the game alone were given water bottles by volunteers from the matrimony website Jeevansathi.com. Distributing bottles branded with a clever message: “Jeevansathi pe aa gaye hote toh aaj ye bottle nahi uska haath pakda hota,” meaning, “If you’d joined Jeevansathi, you’d be holding hands instead of a bottle,” the volunteers, clad in white T-shirts bearing the motto “Singles Ko Paani Pilao Yojana,” were entertaining and informative. People laughed and praised the brilliant campaign as it went popular on the internet.

At the start of the show, Diljit—clad in all black—wowed the audience with a spectacular performance that had everyone cheering. He paused for a moving moment, raising the Indian flag, which elicited a thunderous applause from the crowd. He passionately exclaimed, “This is my country, this is my home!” His sincere words touched the audience and brought a touching note to the exciting evening. He continued by expressing his gratitude to the audience, stating, “Thank you for your love and kindness over the years.”
